What do I do with old PC?

Hi All

I've got an old PC tower (that's about 8 years old) that I no longer use as it broke down last year.

I want to get rid of it but not sure how ... Do I just throw it away with normal rubbish or should I take it somewhere specific

Recycle it, take it to your local recycling centre, or give it away free on Freecycle.

If you are worried about your data, remove and keep/destroy the hard disc from inside.

I second isofa's suggestion of freecycle. Someone will know how to fix it up and make use of it. But (assuming the hard disk wasn't faulty) remove the hard disk and install it in your new system.... no one gets unwanted access to your personal data, and you should be able to access all your old files, which might prove useful.

    +1 for freecycle.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it
  • If you really don't want to use the internet to get rid of it (freecycle is a very good idea) your local tip should have someone who knows how to dispose of it safely. You're right not to throw it away with the general rubbish though.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
