Tax Credit Office admit error!

Hi everyone,
I don't often post but I'm an avid reader of all the moneysaving advice. Last year I was informed by the tax credit office that I owed £1500 for one year and £400 for this year. I was shocked - especially as I had kept them informed of all changes in my circumstances, and filled in forms etc as advised by their workers. So last July I visited the Citizens Advice Bureau, who were very helpful. I filled in my appeal form (too small, so I typed up my own 'report' and stapled it on). Due to health problems, I could not complete this information until several months later, and when I telephoned to check they had received it - apparently it never arrived! I made a phone call to the complaints department - and they also had no record of it. I am not sure what happened - but it must have turned up - I received a letter last week saying that all mistakes were due to their error. And all money owed was cancelled. I think that the appeal 'report' I sent them might have worked - I based my appeal on several points made in the appeals booklet and quoted it several times.
Anyway, to say that much perseverance has paid off. I am still disgusted that they sent me a payment notice for £1500 one week before Christmas - shocking and stressful! I can only hope that others are as successful as we were. I wanted to post this to give hope to those stuck in a similar postion.
good luck everyone!

    Wow! Congratulations!

If you're able to get them to admit an error - then it must be possible for the rest of us to do it too!
    :T:T:T:T

    Thanks for the encouragement.
