Question re: Childtax credit

Hi there,
Just a quick question regarding childtax credits and working tax credits.
My SIL has spilt up with her husband of 21 yrs and is on a low income. She is now receiving full credits but her husband is still paying all the mortgage and bills + plus other bits.
She is a very honest person and when I asked her if she had told them about him still paying for everything she said yes. She told me it is because he is not living with them anymore and that is the most important factor. This has been going on for six months now.
Is she going to get herself into trouble and could this be right?
Thanks,
Liss.

It`s fine. You can keep all your maintenance payments on tax credits. It`s only on income support that you have to declare maintenance and besides if he`s paying the bills etc it`s not like he is actually giving her maintenance anyway. She should not worry about it and if I were her I wouldn`t tell him about tax credits either.
