Recipe and Cleaning Indexes ...

... I've picked up some wonderful recipes and cleaning tips since the indexing has made it so much easier to find (thank you squeaky) but I've also noticed a slight "problem".

When I click on the recipe or cleaning hint that I want to look at, it brings up only that single post, as opposed to the whole thread - but by doing so, there is no option to use the "Thanks" button on a single post.

Naturally, by their very nature they are helpful/useful and the poster has gone to the trouble to type out and share their recipes/ideas/hints/tips, it does seem a real pity that we can't "thank" them for their endeavours :(

Is there anyway this can be remedied?

TIA

    I've been Money Tipped!
Can I second that request Squeaky? as I too have often popped back to get a recipe and would love to be able to say thanks. Sorry I do appreciate all the hard work you've done so far, you are a star! :D

  • Is this the Mega index that you are querying? I have been picking through them at random and found the THANKS button on all that I've seen - could it be the very old posts that don't have a thanks button?

No apprentice .. I'm referring to the recipes and the cleaning recipes :)

Even the old posts have the "Thanks" button.

That's going to mean going through each and every item and editing the link by hand. There's no "built in" way to create those links.

At the moment I'm catching up with the MEGA Index, but what I can do is to create the new links when I catch up over the weekend with new posts in this fashion and then, later, sweep through all the threads.

I'm not being a moaning minny or anything but it really does take a lot more time and work in comparison to a straightforward hyperlink so it'll have to wait until I've got some catch-up time available.

In the meantime... if you really want to say thank you...

..in the address bar of view single posts you have an address like this one:-

    http:\\forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=675222&postcount=8

Edit it to remove the &postcount=(number)

So now you should have this:-

    http:\\forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=675222

Edit to change post to thread

So now you should have this:-

    http:\\forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=675222

Now click on GO or hit the enter key and there ya go :)

It's actually quicker and easier than it looks written out like that - honest :)

I'm trying to get as much faffing done as I can because any time now the Newsletter will be out and then the site slows down as lots of people start looking at all the latest tips.

That's when I'll have a rest in my nice comfy chair with a good book :)
