hi, iwe are too looking foe laminate flooring and i think the best deal to go for at the moment is at b&q, they have a clic range sorry not quite sure of the name but the prices are £21.22 per pack, it is not the cheapest in there so its middle of the range, it has lots of different colours too, have a look on there website it has it on there as well but probably best to go in the store and see up close.
good luckappreciate what you have got x0 -
I have tried the knock together type from Homebase (very important that you buy the fixing kit) & the Aqua Loc (from B&Q) for the bathroom. Once you knock this together it is NOT easy to get apart believe me !
The Aqua Loc was the best as it 'snaps together'. I went for the more expensive one which you had to order but it looks fantastic.0 -
Think we bought the same stuff Scooper mentions.
It's on special order, in B&Q, you can see samples on BIG pull out trays, then lay it on the floor in the store, next to a sample of paint/paper you intend to match it with.
went together Ok - first ever time we've done it - & came apart, when we got it wrong.
An earlier post, 2/3 weeks back, someone said about the thicknes of the printed patern, being important - don't know how you check this, though.
Friend of ours just layed £3 ish stuff from Wickes & it looks fine, too!Time will tell!

I started a community on laminate flooring to address just this problem. I started by research Harmonics laminate flooring and ended up with a huge list. Check out the poll.
There are a lot of products, and some are definitely better than otheres. This would be a good place to ask questions and get more information. The biggest factor, I think, is resistance to water damage - which is almost always not covered by the warrantee.0 -
Got my first lot of klic stuff from B&Q and the second from floors to go, no offence to the later but the B&Q one is soooooooooo much better and it was on special offer.Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

Gotta agree with the B&Q stuff being better (Aqua Loc).
We got a heap from "Storey Carpets" (don't know if they are a national outfit) on "Special Offer".
It was some German-made stuff in an "Antique Oak" finish.
The stuff looked OK in the shop and was reasonably priced (with it being on special offer).
Floor was levelled and a combined underlay/DPM was used (Duralay???).
Trouble came when laying it. When clicked together, some of the short ends were not flush with one another. Only a small lip on the upper surface, but very noticeable when running your hand across the join.
By the time I'd finished laying the floor in the lounge, out of the 10 packs I stated out with, 2 packs were ones that could not be used (turned out the "tongues" were fracturing).
In the end I managed to use up the 2 packs in the hall, which wasn't wide enough to require the boards to be joined at the short ends.
Needless to say, I won't be buying anything else from "Storey Carpets".
To make matters worse, the radiator in the lounge has subsequently leaked and got under the boards and some of the joinsts have swelled really badly!
The "Aqua-Loc" stuff from B&Q on the other hand was excellent. I layed it in the bathroom where it get a little wet from time to time as you can imagine and it still looks great.
A bit more expensive, but it seems a lot "harder" than the stuff I got from "Storey Carpets".
I'll be using this in the lounge next time!0 -
If you really want a quality laminate floor, dont go for the b&q or ikea type floors.
These floors are generally made up of ply laminates or mdf with nothing more than a photocopy of wood on top, protected by a varnish. when that wears away (very quickly) the paper (sorry....wood) wears away and your left with mdf.
Ive got details of decent stuff at work (which ill post tomorrow). This is usually made up of a ply base with a real hardwood top ply (usually up to 7mm thick). Therefore if theres any damage a sheet of sand paper and a coat of varnish fixes it.......off the top of my head look at Bruce, kahrs, or Junkers.
B&Q floors are very cheap but after six months the 'wood', in patches, is worn awayif i had known then what i know now0 -
:)Hi, as a laminate fitter by trade I have fitted many different types of flooring, and in my opinion, the best by far is Quickstep range, available at many places, online and floors to go.
They have many ranges, with different thicknesses, but all are quality click together flooring.
Waterproofing is easier now using normal laminate flooring as you can purchase silicone to run along the join0 -
Totally aggree about the Quick Step range. I used there V-plank range and it looks like real wood. They also do a very good tile effect range which I used in my kitchen. Online prices are good, but check your local independent dealers. If ya want to get into it, ya got to get out of it.0
