I was speaking to BT today while getting my Mothers line moved from Telewest and requested caller ID for her. They said to wait till after 1st July as it was becoming free on that date!
Telewest are increasing theirs from £1 to £1.50 on the same date
Good for me too as I pay the £1.75 per month at the moment.
Strange I see no mention of it anywhere else and seem to have been charged the full amount on this months bill which runs well into July!

Are you sure they gave you accurate information ?
I just called BT on the 150 help line and the advisor said he saw no pending change of price from the present £1.75 a month.0 -
I've no reason to doubt it or any way to confirm it either!0

Why would they say wait till July. BT's job is to screw every penny out of the customer. TIP- Change the title of your post to include a few ???0

My Mothers BT line wont be active till 4th July so that's why.0

Not the staff, who probably get paid basic wages, had this sort of thing myself once. Just being nice, it does happen.
Will look myself come the first.

I would have thought that BT would make a song and dance about abolishing their Caller display rate of £1.75 or even lowering it. NTL/Telewest charge £1.50 so if BT did decide to abolish it then i'm sure they'd make a fuss over it as they'd be only network not to charge for it, plus I'm sure we should have been informed by now.
I personally don't think it is likely as out of all the calling features, Caller Display must be the most popular (or one of the most popular) by all the landline networks.0 -

But what a great advertising opportunity!bbb_uk wrote:I would have thought that BT would make a song and dance about abolishing their Caller display rate of £1.75 or even lowering it. It'd be better than the "Every month, 100,000 people come back to BT" rubbish - when they're really losing 60,000 customers (nett) per month.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -

Oh yea. I never did believe that figure. They have likely messed around with the figures to make it sound more than there actually are. The government does that with the unemployed rate - you get told one figure and then get told the 'actual' figure is something else!April2 wrote:But what a great advertising opportunity!

I'm going to ring them up tonight to demand a free caller display or switch - see what they say ! I'm not expecting it free though. I'll keep you posted0
