Hi Sam,
I'm no expert but...
Outlook and Outlook express are two different email packages. Outlook is good for large organisations that use calenders and stuff in networking. Outlook Express is far more useful to the home user. I would always use Express.
You shouldn't need to install express to get outlook to work.
As for IE5 ... I think that is Internet Explorer (Version 5). Which again shouldn't be needed for outlook.
It sound like you could possibly have a virus or hijack in your system stopping you from installing. I would do a virus scan, etc. Also check forums and Microsoft website to see if the problem has happened to others.
I gave up with Outlook some time ago. I prefer Mozilla Thunderbird. So if you keep getting grief download an alternate email client (thunderbird or other).
Good luck ... hope that helps.0
