Traffic offence fine from Italy

My OH has just received a letter from avis for a traffic offence from May last year it occurred after we arrived when he didn't request a ticket at the toll
entrance, when we were exiting the toll a very unhelpful assistant just grunted and issued him with a fine notice we checked at our hotel who advised that it was nothing to worry about just ignore it.

The letter from avis states we will received a bill for the offence and have
charged us 8euros any help on this would be very much appreciated

Presumably when you didn't pay the fine they sent some kind of enforcement notice to the rental company and they have forwarded it to yourself plus an admin fee. You know you have commited the offence so pay up.

Yep, I can't see what advice you expect except to pay up. The 8 EUR admin charge is not much considering. If you drive abroad you have to comply with the law just the same as in this country.

Hire car companies in the UK would levy exactly the same sort of admin charge.

An 8 Euro admin charge sounds very reasonable indeed. Nothing to complain about there.

Pay up, and just be grateful that you can't get points on your licence for traffic offences outside of the UK (yet...)

Certainly does - €10-€20 in Belgium for the admin charge on traffic fines (I read on the rental agreement - €10 if you tell them as you hand back the car, €20 if you don't)
There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice
