I only want a flight to the Bahamas, but cost seems to be double a package deal.
How do I stand legally with taking a package, using the flight and not turning up at the accommodation (and saving myself hundred's in the bargain)?

If you've got your flight tickets, there's no comeback.
The air carrier has no connection with your accomodation provider.
Doing what you suggest is a major money saving exercise; I'm surprised more hasn't been made of it in these forums
