Anyone used Magic Villas?

I enquired about a holiday apartment on Owners Direct and the contact turned out to be this UK based agency who advertise privately owned self catering accommodation in Sardinia via websites like owners direct. I thought I was contacting a UK based property owner.
Their website points out that the contract for the holiday is not with them its with the (Italian) property owner.
I feel a bit uneasy about this kind of arrangement, as if (for example) Magic Villas cash my cheque and go bust without paying the owner, or if the property owner lets us down, I cant see that we have much recourse.
I have never heard of Magic Villas and they look to me like a one man band so I am a bit nervous about writing them a cheque for 2 grand.

Hi I booked with Magic Villas a few years ago and did this through my local branch of Going Places - the company had a few brochures for different places but my Mum wanted to go to Sardinia. I believe they are a reputable company however we did get bumped out of our original villa as it was 'double booked'! We were give the opportunity to book another villa or get our money back though.
Hope this helps.

Ta for the reply but I suspect that you booked your holiday from the "Magic of Italy" brochure - which I dont believe Magic Villas have any relationship with. Magic Villas is a small outfit only offering villas in Sardinia and I doubt they even have a brochure.0
