Its my oh's 30th birthday in July I have booked a 2 night stay for us an my 2 daughters to come down to London, we live in Scotland so will be driving. Got some £29 travel lodge rooms  we are staying in wembley. As part of his birthday present we will be going a tour of his beloved chelsea stadium, but its a secret shhhh !
As we are staying two nights I was wondering if anyone could recommend places to go or things to see in London (child friendly) we will be coming on the weekend.
None of us have ever been to London before, but I am so excited :j

I have stayed at the Wembley Travelodge a couple of times before. PM me if you like. I visit London about once a month atm thanks to Travelodge and a £1 Hoxton room in March.
The museums are free: Science, Natural History, Imperial War, V & A, British, Tate, National Maritime. Also simply visit Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace just so you can say you've been there.
I would recommend getting Oyster cards for use on the Tubes and buses (they are slightly cheaper but a lot more convenient)......0 -
Covent Garden is great in the evenings, lots of street acts and the market. I do like Covent Garden......0

Seeing as you are in Wembley there's always the Stadium Tour but I am not sure how expensive that is... Make your way up town on the tube and see the London Eye and the Embankment. Westminster and the Abbey ... lots of things to see that don't really cost anything if you are prepared for some walking... The Travelodge at Wembley is near to the tube at Stonebridge Park or Park Royal quick and easy to town.. I am sure they will have tube maps or take a look at www.tfl.co.uk that has lots of info on the buses and tube...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Travelodge at Wembley is near to the tube at Stonebridge Park or Park Royal ...
The Hanger Lane station is nearer than the Park Royal station. The Stonebridge Park station has a weird feeling about it, and doesn't feel that safe at night imo, for this reason we prefer to return to the Hanger Lane on at night.
The thing about London is you can just stroll around taking things in (as Tanith says), and it doesn't have to be too expensive......0 -
The Natural History Museum and Science Museum are next door to each other, and they're free and pretty cool.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

pick up a 2 for 1 leaflet at the train station, and you get some great deals. boat rides, madame tussauds, theatres, exhibitions, restaurants etc
driving round london can be v.slow, plus theres the congestion charge.
The tube is fast, and the busses are a nice way to view the sights, and you can hop on & off as you please!0 -
I also think taking the tube will be easier than driving if you don't know your way around it can be daunting and confusing and then you have to find somewhere to park... there won't be any congestion charge at the weekend though...
If you turn left as you come out of the Travelodge and walk up to the Harrow Road (about 10mins) you can get an 18 bus that will take you past Little Venice where you can get a canal boat trip to London Zoo or a bit further it goes right past Baker St where you can visit the Fictional Home of Sherlock Holmes.. then a bit further is the Planetarium and Madame Tussauds ... then the new St Pancras Station lots to see for the price of a bus ride...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
