Canada help please

Have found some cheap flights to Canada in September but am stuck as to what to do next. We would really like do do a tour with a company just to save the hassle of booking different hotels every night but am struggling to find a company that does just tours no flights. as anyone had any good experiences with any company that does this or am I much better just hiring a car and heading off ourselves?

Hire a car and head off yourself.

Hotels are quite pricey in Canada though.

    Fortunately, most other things aren't.

We're off there (BC) again ourselves for 2 weeks in July. Can't wait!

You say Canada, but what part do you mean as this place is about as big if not bigger than europe, i have visited last year to the west coast so may be able to help, that is if i know where you plan to fly in or fly out of with some advice

Where are you flying to? It's a biiiig place. If you're flying to Toronto then you can probably rule out Vancouver, unless you fly again.

From Toronto you could do Niagara, Ottawa and then onto Montreal without too much difficulty.
  • We flew to Nova Scotia in June (quit time) and hired car. We stopped were we wanted, and never had a bad deal. $C50-70 was most we paid £25-35We had a couple of good B&B, or just used comfort inn or whatever we saw. Tourist offices are also very helpful.

By-pass hotel breakfast if not included in price, use gas station diners:-much more fun and value. Fill up at self-serve gas pump, the full serve is more expensive.
Driving in country areas is less stressful than here, and drivers are more polite and tolerant. Be aware of the distances, as said already this is a very big bit of country, don't over estimate what you can do.
Take time to see small towns, and speak to locals.
Be polite, as manners are very important. You may get feed up with the phrase "you're welcome", but they do mean it!
  • I am from the UK and live in Toronto and I used to be a travel agent so my best advice is to book yourself a hotel for when you arrive and check with the hotel reception for different trips as they are always know what they are talking about. Also there is a good website for hotel prices of you want to book yourself called http://www.travelocity.com/
