Hope this is in the right place.
Ok so i changed my car on the 22nd jan and phoned my insurance company(post office) and as my renewal was up on the 16th feb, basically my premium was £2 less per month so they said i could carry on paying £34 for 12 months.
So the first payment was due today of £34, Checked my bank and they`ve only gone and taken out £75.( i should of waited till 16th feb till renewal was due but the guy said we`ll just start from this date)
I was so fuming i rang them up and said why have you taken that much out, to which she replied its a deposit and then you pay £34 per month for 10 months NO i said i was told i was to pay £34 for 12 months as if i`d of known i would said no cos i dont have £75. She said we`ll have to listen to the phone call and put me on hold.
After 15 mins she came back and said theres no-one that can listen to the call for a week, we`ll ring you back in a week and let you know the decision.
HANG ON i told her, how am i suppose to feed the kids when you`ve taken money out of my account, i went beserk on the phone, i said how can it take it you 10 seconds to press a button to get money out of my account but its gonna take you 7 days to listen to some tape to see if i was right or not.(which i am 100%)
I told her in my opinion its theft, you had no right to take my money out of my account.
Her reply - theres nothing i can do!!!! So i told her when you ring me back in a week and my bank is overdrawn (im on a tight budget) i want the money + the overdraft charge + the cost of the telephone call refunded.
Im so gutted, i sat for 2 hours the other night budgeting and accounting every penny and this stupid company have just helped themselves to my money.I`ve only got £30 a week for food shopping and this week i hav`nt even got that cos they`ve taken it
Should i have to wait a week, even then if they admit they were wrong its going to take 10 days to refund the money.
Im so upset can someone please advise.

Did it come out of your account by DirectDebit? If so, ring your bank and get it reversed, will be done there and then (well mine always have been), you can reverse it as it was not what was agreed. But then don't forget to contact your insurance as you could find you are not covered (pay by debit card for 1st payment etc).
If payment was not DD then you will have to chase the Post Office to refund, 1 week is not acceptable if you ask me, so I would ask them to refund until they have listened to the call!!0 -

Even though the money leaves your account that day the merchant normally doesn't get it until 2 days later. So even if they refunded you immediately you wouldn't get the money back until next week which doesn't help your situation.
I suggest if the noone gets back to you, you follow your complaint up in writing stating that you will take them to the financial ombudsman if they don't reimburse you in full and get a proof of postage (free from the post office) to show that you posted the letter. If after 8 weeks you still do not hear back then take them to the financial ombudsman.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Check you will still be insured if you do reverse. Paying a deposit sounds like a new poilcy rather than a change or continuation. Did you have a no-claims history?0
