Xbox live customer support. What a nightmare!

A couple days ago, I called up Xbox live because my account had been suspended (due to me not putting credit on it for 3 months). This wasn't the problem, I had my debit card to hand with plenty of funds available for what i wanted to do so all was good.
What wasn't so good was the (I am assuming Indian guy) I ended up connected to. Now don't read the rest of this post and think I am racist because that is definitly NOT the case but man this guy was a complete idiot. What should have been a 5-10 minute conversation turned into 45 minutes of me explaining such things as what a debit card was, what it did how there was cash in my account that i wished to use to renew my subscription etc. Now I had rung them 3 days previously and the lady i spoke to was articulate intelligent and had a reasonable grasp of english (just as you would expect from a big company like Microsoft) but this guy was a polar opposite. About the only thing he didn't do was to directly shout at me over the phone. Now I can find my way around a computer pretty well but the attitude I got from this guy was that his belief was that I had managed to turn my X box on by some strange fluke. Being spoken down to is not something I enjoy btu of course you have to hold your temper don't you? I had enough of that and asked to speak to his supervisor who was then put on the line (altho I could hear the operator muttering something) he looked up my call history and found the work I had done with the nice lady earlier in the week and the whole thing was sorted out in 5 mins.
I was so drained after that that I completely forgot to complain about the attitude of the original operator. (by the way I am 35, that last line made me sound in my 80's lol)

I've had same problem with Orange call centre this week. What a joke, I had to tell them I was going to cancel my contract before they transferred my call to someone in UK...0

I thought orange were all based in the UK?
If I remember correctly there call centres are Plymouth (I know this for sure), Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool.
This doesnt stop the 'Im sorry I cant understand you' problem though....Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
No, I have my broadband with Orange and it was off for over a week!!!
Every time I rang, I got put straight through to India. It was so time consuming and frustrating... They read from a script, (they do understand MAC though).
I eventually got a call back from UK (I had fixed it by then) and he told me the only way I could get through to UK call centre was to listen to options and key number for (moving house)
I know they def have call centre in North Tyneside and one in Middlesbrough.0 -
Microsoft have used call centres based overseas for years. I have no problem with companies that do this, however Microsoft seem to employ people who don't speak english.
Last year I had to reinstall XP on my computer, but the code from the COA was not recognised, the problem was I used a different installation disc to the one supplied with my computer.
I got an on screen message to call Microsoft, and spent almost two hours on the phone to someone who could not even grasp the problem I had. I redialed and had the same thing happen again.
I finally called Microsoft in America, and had it sorted in less than 5 minutes.
Write an email of complaint to Microsoft, they are pretty good with customer service complaints, I had a call from someone who actually listened to my issues, then went away to listen to copies of the calls.
He also sent me the latest version of Office for free.0 -
Normally I don't have any problems at all from any of the Microsoft numbers i find need to call, In my experience this has been a one off I just found the whole thing draining and frustrating.I Reject your reality and substitute my own.

Off topic:
Orange call centres are in Plymouth (mainly PAYG, plus Premier Customers), Peterlee and Darlington, with a small one in Bristol (mainly used for pilots). They also have a call centre in India, although I'm not sure what type of call it takes (used to be PAYG only, I think that has changed).
Cheers,
