Hiring a van out to a 72 year old

Options
My Dad will be moving home soon & was wanting to hire a van out rather than have a rental company help him. He is 72 & has a full *unblemished* driving licence - anyone any ideas where to try? Neither me or hubby don't drive & my brother has recently had his licence taken off him so we can't help.

Thanks

Yvonne

Put the money towards hiring somes blokes with their own luton van; trust me moving house yourself is a lot harder than most people imagine.

Failing that, can't see why any hire place would refuse him?

Insurance reasons - I deal with vehicle rental as part of my job and our insurance only covers up to 70 years old. The only way someone older can rent a vehicle from us is if they arrange their own fully comprehensive insurance for the vehicle.

He has had a firm help him before & has had lots of items of value broken in transit because they didn't secure them properly so won't use them again.

He was told that because he is over 65 he would have to get a specialist company that hires to over 65's but I don't know any?

I can only suggest you phone round a few of the local van hire places and see what they say but if he does find somewhere willing to accept him he will pay a hefty sum for additional insurance.
