xbox 360 wireless help needed

Hi all

Hope someone can help me?

My son had an xbox360 for crimbo we just got him a wireless adaptor( xbox one) at weekend. We currently have vista on a new dell desktop with sky providing the wireless router. First 3 days were fine, xbox live no probs, last couple of days, loss of signal to xbox which is very frustrating. We have done all the usual stuff, moved large objects, relocated router etc but still having problems. This seems to conicide with us buying a usb wirless adaptor for our old pc. We even unistalled this but still having problems, anyone have any ideas or cheap solutions.

Thanks in advance
maz

Rebooted router? It may be that someone in your local vicinity is on the same channel as you and are causing issues on the wireless. Could the PC see the router wirelessly? If yes then the issue is with the xbox unless you specified a manual IP on anything, if you specify a manual IP then it could just be that one of the PCs has taken the same IP address.

    Thanks PaulK

I'm not very technical minded, how do I change the channel on my router? Not sure if I did manual ip address or not on the old pc, how do I check?

Sorry to be so computer thick!

    thanks

Changing the channel is easy, what router did you get from sky? Is it black or white?
Basics are open internet explorer, clear address line, type in the following
    192.168.0.1
    press enter
should get a log in scree,
    user name = admin
    password = sky
when screen loads if it is a white router click on "wireless settings" on left of screen, if black router click "setup" link.
On screen that loads there is a set of info up top, next to the word "Channel" there will either be a number or the word auto. Click on it and drop it to number 11. Scroll the screen down a little bit and then click on apply.
IP addresses are a bit more complicated. Is old pc still on wireless? I do not believe that this is causing the issue so you may as well put it back on.
Also what operating system is on it? Is it Windows XP?

    Hi Paulk

sorry it took so long to get back to you, i had to go out to work in the middle of sorting out the xbox! I've changed the channel, thanks for the guide, it made it really easy, we have a black sky box. I've now changed it to channel 11.

Our old pc is operating on windows xp, will try reinstalling the usb wireless adaptor tomorrow and see how it goes.

thanks for all of your help and advice.
