Options
My own fault I know:o , M&S card arrived today, took it work, rang up and got it switched on. Got home tonight, went to BT and couldn't find it. So lost. Only number to ring was their 0845 number and no option for a lost card, spent 10 minutes waiting for an operator!!!!

but an 0845 number would only give the same options as a geographic number, only possibly cheaper.
An 0845 number is a virtual number that points to a geographical number

Calls to 0845 numbers are dearer then calls to geographical numbers.

If you visit the site https://www.saynoto0870.com and search under Marks & Spencers you will find several alternative geo no,s listed for there 0845 numbers.

There is no such thing as the local rate it was abolished by BT in July 2004 together with the National Rate. There is just one UK rate now.

0845/0870 calls are not included in carriers free minutes. The following thread is worth reading http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=70403
Its a big rip off, and lots of firms mislead the caller re the cost of non geographical calls and take a cut of the calls.(Why should you have to pay more to report a lost/stolen card).Hence the the site https://www.saynoto0870.com supported by Martin. MSE.
