I.e. if you log in on a Tuesday and find that a payment that was taken out overnight has caused you to go into the red, if you transfer money into the account so that it has a positive balance (or within your agreed limit) by close of business on the Tuesday you wont get charged. If you wait till Wednesday morning before sorting it out when you will get charged.
I like the way Mr Wolfe keeps the caps key down when hes so confident that hes absolutely correct. :rotfl: ( " UNLESS " )0 -
As an aside, RBS used to offer a facility to sweep any 'left over' amount to a savings account and vice versa if the current account dropped below an certain level but this was stopped ages ago (even if it was quite handy).
Why do you think RBS have stopped this? I have the two accounts and they are still topping up my current account from the savings account.0 -
I used to have an RBS current account and asked about the facility but they said it had been stopped being offered after a certain date. My parents (who have been with RBS for years) still have the sweeping but it was set up years ago.0

By the way, what's happened to your postings, you appear to have started using capitals at the beginning of sentences. Be careful, people will start to understand what you're saying! :-p0 -
Are RayWolfe and Bristolleedsfan fighting a grudge match? They might be enjoying themselves but it does take attention away from the original post and is fairly boring for the rest of us.0

HSBC still have the sweep from current to savings - the vice versa isn't advertised but does happen (gulp, got the dates wrong...) but this may be just an occasional "let you off this time" for the premier account.
I believe this happened to me today for the first time.
I had written a cheque for over 10x my overdraft limit and wasn't expecting it to be cashed so soon - HSBC honoured the cheque and transferred the funds from my savings account to my current account themselves to keep me exceeding my overdraft limit.
As my account is already back in credit today, there should be no charges/interest (and its not a Premier account)

After speaking to Nationwide after a payment was taken when it shouldnt (which pushed me into the red as I dont have an overdraft) you have to be in the red for a 24 hour period before any charges get applies.
I.e. if you log in on a Tuesday and find that a payment that was taken out overnight has caused you to go into the red, if you transfer money into the account so that it has a positive balance (or within your agreed limit) by close of business on the Tuesday you wont get charged. Anybody know whether a cheque would bounce given this scenerio please ?
I may give Barclays a cheque ( 3600) at the end of March for 2008/09 Tax Haven ISA.
Wont know when they will present the cheque.
Overdraft limit is 850.00, would keep the 3600 in Nationwide E-Saver
I log into my flexi account daily.so can see when cheques are "being processed".
If I move the 3600 into flexi account when i see the 3600 cheque "being processed" will the 3600 clear ok or is their a risk that it will bounce based on insufficient funds being as its just over 4 times the credit limit.
Also has anyone else encountered a situation where cheques have gone through twice. If so does anybody know whos fault it was.10 March 2008Cheque 300099.£250.00-£184.8210 March 2008Cheque 300100.£250.00-£434.8210 March 2008Cheque 300101.£250.00-£684.8210 March 2008Cheque 300101.£250.00-£934.8210 March 2008Cheque 300100.£250.00-£1184.8210 March 2008Cheque 300099.£250.00-£1434.82
