cheap(er) calls to 0871, 0845, 0870, etc

Hi,

I don't think that 18866 handle calls to 0870 numbers. i am aware opf saynoto0870 but sometimes it does not have an alternative number and 0870s are unavoidable. Is there another telecom company that offers cheap calls to non-geographic numbers such as 0845, 0870, and the even worse 0871s?

Thanks.

18866 charge 9p/minute at all times for 0870 calls and 4p/minute for 0845 calls - see HERE.
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

Best not to use them for those calls as there are far better alternatives.

18866 do handle calls to 0870 but they aint cheap.
The cheapest provider of calls to 0871 at any time is BT.
The cheapest provider of calls to 0845/0870 at Evening/Weekend rate is BT.However the following dial through 0844 access numbers allow cheaper peak rate calls.
    (0845) 0844 462 48 48 (2p a min at all times).
    (0870) 0844 566 75 75 (5p a min at all times).

There was a technical loophole on abroadtel that allowed them cheaper but this i believe has been closed.

Someone told me that a company called 3u Telecom do 0845/0870 calls for 2p peak and 1p offpeak. But this is not reflected in there price list.

There is a useful list of UK Cheapest calls on the https://www.saynoto0870.com go to Home Page and then links.

I’m with Talk Talk at the moment on their free for one year evening and weekend free calls tariff and have retained my One.Tel account by switching to their International tariff. By doing this I kept One.Tel’s £20 call charge credit [which I use for 0870/0845 calls] and access to free Directory Enquiries.

    My question is:

To use the access numbers in your post for cheaper 0870/0845 calls during peak time, do I just pick up the phone and dial [Talk Talk charging] or do I have to switch to BT charging by dialling override number 1280 first?

Spook in another posting recently confirmed that calls to 0844 were charged by BT,Talk Talk, and OneTel exactly the same.So there is no need to use the 1280 overide facility, unless it suits you to do so.

Sometimes I can also find the geographical number by entering the company and maybe the location in google search. Also look in their t&c.You may find the geo
number(maybe to cust.services or a different dept)in the small print. It may take you a few minutes to search but once you get it ,boy will you enjoy using it.Unless you enjoy getting ripped off?Oh and some older yellow pages may carry the number too.

Well done. I hope you then report them on the https://www.saynoto0870.co.uk site so that everyone benefits from your research.

In addition to Pricefighters post, if you visit this page from the SayNoTo0870.com forum you can see there are other techniques in finding a geographical number as well as the method mentioned by isayoldchap.
