at least they're admitting it's imitation rather than just flogging it as authentic

Readers might like to know that I was at a household and general auction in Wokingham, asmall market town in Berkshire last week and a small fake Louis Vuitton handbag came under the hammer.

It sold for £28, almost three times what they cost in Bangkok. I wonder if it will turn up soon on e-bay?
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • please please do what i do report every!!! listing of this type , ebay don't always ( infact rarely ) take action , but it can bring it to there attention. i take 20 mins eveytime i'm on line to help weed these sellers out . take a stand and make it harder for these sellers

I agree but even worse is eBay were advertising bags with no reserve and an hour to go... and some were listed just like that! Like pay by Western Union and MoneyGram.

    It's madness out there.

When i lived in Bangkok a few years ago Levis jeans were sond on the streets as Lives which is easy for the eye to miss. Always check the spelling and just as importantly the seems which are stitched. These days some of the fakes from Thailand are extreamly difficult for the police to even spot.

Some more fake things to be wary of on ebay are GameBoy Advance Games and Tiffany Jewellery.

Any GBA games coming from places like China and Thailand where software piracy is rife are likely to be fake - they generally don't have the instruction books as I guess these would be more expensive for the pirates to print.

I was recently looking at Tiffany Jewellery for my girlfriend on ebay and it looks like a large percentage of the stuff on ebay is counterfeit - if you look carefully through the feedback of the sellers you can often find negative feedback from people complaining that it is fake with a vague reply from the seller. I bought directly from the Tiffany site in the end.
  • I bought a gucci purse - its a fake albeit quite a good one.

My sister was happy at £27 anyway. It was sold as 'authentic'.

    Should I report the seller?
