Item not received

Just had a message from a buyer that an item has not been received.
Sent by Royal Mail who upto now have been fine with me.
It was sent 3 and a half weeks ago, so have lost receipt of posting.
What do i do next?
My instinct is to refund payment, but is there anything else i can do? Like gettting listing fee back?

You can put in a claim to royal mail without a proof of posting (although I would recommend keeping them in future).
They are not obliged to compensate you but if you are a first timer then you may well be compensated.0 -
Hi Jimble

I have had to make a claim with Royal Mail more than once & although I do get a COP with every item I post I have never been asked to show them for a claim HTH2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please!

Was just wondering about this kinda thing myself. Someone has said they haven't received an item, luckily it is only a couple of pounds, and I don't know whether I've got COP, but, for that amount I not too bothered and will just refund them.
What I was wondering though was, if I refund them through Paypal will it cost them anything? Not sure whether to offer to either refund through Paypal or cheque.
Also, if I have got COP is it worthwhile putting in claims for small items, just wondering incase I ever send more expensive things and have to claim again, then it might look a bit dodgy?0 -
I would refund by paypal (if that is the way they paid), it would cost them if they transfered the dosh over to thier bank account ( I think its free if there is £50 to transfer). But it will prob get used in next purchase if anything like me!!!
I have been lucky no item has ever been lost (yet...touch wood) but I write the Post Code on it at the PO and then the user name/or item at the top and CPO put into a box and it gets cleared when they are happy with item,
Yea, I would complain ecach time anything went missing even if of little value, lets them know there is a problem, but if its worth more that £30 remember to insure it parcel or special delivery.
Why should it look dodgy, if you have proof of sending and proof of value (paypal/ebay invoice) ?0 -
Thanks
Yeah, suppose you're right in saying that it lets them know there's problems with Royal Mail. I was just a bit wary of claiming for something so small incase maybe in the future a few items go missing as well (higher value ones).
Hmm, just seems really strange that as long as you've got COP and you tell
them that an item hasn't turned up then you can claim for it? Then people could just send things to their mates and say that they didn't arrive?
Also, it makes you wonder if people really are telling the truth when they say that they didn't receive an item.
Another thing, isn't it up to the person who posts, and obviously has the COP, to claim if things go missing? That's what I've always thought, but I've
seen loads of sellers stating that if an item goes missing in the post it's
up to the seller to claim (something that I thought wasn't possible)?0 -
Hi
if you refund by paypal it wont cost you or them anything ( for this transaction )
Just click on the actual transaction details and at the bottom theres a refund button
