I haven't been on here for a couple of months although i did use the site to try and cut back to save money for my wedding before. I got married on the 18th june and am now trying to get back on track and save some money to pay off some debts and then to start saving for a trip to Canada next year. So, who wants to help me decide where to start cos my mind has gone blank!

:hello: crazyhazy - nice to see you back!
Your plans sound exciting. Here are my suggestions - why not try and introduce one/a couple at a time so as not to become overwhelmed?!
Budget (using martin's tool at the top of the page)
Try the storecupboard challenge and meal planning. I find this is key for me.
read through Queenie's PIN money challenge. This is motivational as you keep track of what you are saving and not spending! Give it a go.
let us know how you get on
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

Then take a look at the "Welcome" sticky at the top of the board. It's got loads of links on how to get started (again) and where to find everything.
Congratulations and all that stuff.

Talking of budgets and spreadsheets. Does anyone have a Grocery or Household Budget spreadsheet - a BLANK copy, of course - that they'd like to share with us. I'd be happy to host it on my site for readers to grab and use to help them with the challenges.
Please PM me if you can help.

what kind of thing are you talking about?
Divvied up into meals/storecupboard/cleaning that kind of thing?
I don't have one, but I can probably knock something up fairly quickly if no one else does either.
I've been thinking that it might be good to have something so I can tie down my weekly spends with a bit more logic.Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
I was just thinking of being able to keep track of spending on household stuff, and maybe with added columns for PMS/vouchers etc and running totals.greenlogo wrote:what kind of thing are you talking about?

Nothing fancy - hardly anything more than keeping an electronic list that you might otherwise keep on a notepad.
The simpler it is the more people will be able to use it to fit their needs because it'll be that bit more adaptable.
No one has admitted as yet to having a spreadsheet that is presentable in public
