DLA and Carers Allowance

Hi everyone
My son has been on middle rate care DLA for the past 3 years. I had to reapply and am delighted to learn that he has been awarded the same but for the next five years (he has allergies and carries an epipen and has very bad eczema). Anyway, my question is: Do I have to reapply for carers allowance again or does this just automatically continue as long as the DLA continues? I've searched on a few sites but can't find any info specifically about this.
Thanks

Thanks - I thought that might be the case but I wasn't sure0

It automatically continues but you may get called to 'work focused interviews' every few years depending on where you live.
If you aren't looking for work at that point in time then just tell them and you'll be fine, but ignore them and your benefit may be affected0 -
Thanks clairec - I'm currently looking for work but for something that will fit in with school hours as I don't want to be doing shift work or weekends as I need to be home for my son so I'm in seeing my lone parent advisor every fortnight as it is. A job within the school would be ideal but they are few and far between - at least anything over 16 hours is.

Hello, joining in here because I don't know how to start a new thread
, I'm new to this. I am wondering how many hours you are allowed to study if you are in receipt of carers allowance. I heard somewhere that you lose it if you study over a certain amount of hours, I would like to go back to school, any help would be greatly appreicted.:cheesy:

Part time study is usually allowed with Carers Allowance, cut off is 21 hours I believe
