Query on behalf of my mother's partner.
My mother died two years plus ago.
He has colon cancer, spread to the liver.
Lives alone.
Phoned for forms.
Is it applicable to tick 'terminal' box?
I am his only local support.
Palliative care... does it equal a tick in the box?
I would like to make time remaining to be devoid of bills etc.

Palliative care/treatment ..?0

Has he been told his condition is terminal? Have to say it sounds highly likely, poor chap
. If so, he should be fast tracked onto AA, if it is considered he will not survive more than six months.
Palliative care is pain control for the terminally ill, when no other treatment is likely to improve his condition, so if that is what he is getting then I am sure he will qualify for AA.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

You need to ask his GP or Cancer Specialist, as it really depends on his life expectancy.Gone ... or have I?0

Thanks for replying.
Yes, he knows now.
It would be at best palliative chemo.
Will get the forms.
& relevant docs to sign.
He doesn't know what 'palliative' means.
Thanks for the help.0 -
He needs a form called a DS1500 from the doctor.0

Thanks for all the replies.
Though the diagnosis was just yesterday a Macmillan nurse called this afternoon with appointment within a week for chemo consultation.
She will also arrange for an applicable social work / benefit advisor to call on him for help with forms etc.
My biggest concern was that he lives alone, so am mightly impressed with such rapid support available to him.
Though such an outcome had been thought of it still hits like a brick.
Thanks again.
