Paying for new Kitchen

I am about to purchase a new kitchen for approx £7000 I intend using my wifes new Capital one credit card (4% Cashback) to pay for it.

My intention is to then apply for a barclaycard and balance transfer this debt.

If Barclaycard do not give my wife the same credit limit as Capital one (£7500) what is the best way to cover this amount?

Is it possible to balance transfer any remaining debt on my wifes card to a card in my name?

Thanks for any help

  • Yes it is possible to transfer between cardholders.

It's a lot to ask in these credit crunch times to get a high limit to cover your kitchen plus you have to factor in the balance transfer fee of around 3%

Barclaycard allow a maximum £5K at 0%. Anything over this will be charged at 6.9%...but fee-free.

    Always read the small print.
  • Just to say virgin will probably give you a limit of £10k and 0% for 15 months although again a 3% BT fee...
