Lloyds TSB goes Islamic

Options
You couldn't make it up. In my local paper it say's:-

"Lloyds TSB launched a new bank account today that enables Muslims to transfer money around the world without breaking the laws of Islam"

Oh really,... is this to get back the money they & Scottish Widows have lost their Christian customers with their Bonds, or just to rub our noses in the proverbial. If you have SWid's Bonds, especially 'Property' you will have lost thousands over the past few days. Oh, then to make sure you are properly shafted (technical phrase..) they send a letter saying you are locked in for the next 180 days and will only get the value of your investment as is listed in 180 days time. Now, we in England can only recourse to writing postings like this to warn potential customers, but I wonder what the Muslim ones will do if and when they get financially shafted like us. Will they act like gentlemen, or will they issue a Fatwa and give severe stick to Lloyds & Scot WIds? Oh please tell me that this is going to cost them dearly, they so deserve it.

I know there is a facility to nominate the best post of the month - but is there one to nominate the most pathetic?

Must be true then, eh? But as ejones says Islamic accounts have been around for years.

What makes you think only Christian customers are invested? Don't you think Jews, Hindus, Muslims have investments?
Will they act like gentlemen, or will they issue a Fatwa ...
Ah, Christians act like gentlemen but the others don't - now I see why you think only Christians have lost money! ;)

I do sympathise greatly for your loss - my investments are down 4% at the mo so I can even empathise with you. However, you should have read what it says on the tin - to paraphrase, Investments can go down as well as up and you may not get back what you originally invested.

I dont understand, would anyone leave a bank because it has a Islamic transfer facility. There is no need.

There is one thing I personally avoid, that Halal meet as there is evidence that not stunning an animal before killing it causes more pain than needed.

Lloyds TSB is a company and will do what it want to make profits.
