Burglar Alarm - Problem with PIR (electricians)

Having problems with a garage PIR. There is also a magnetic door catch in the same area, wired up along with the PIR.
The problem is that the PIR is almost constantly on. It started doing this a couple of days ago at 3:30am.
There is a bundle of wires wrapped in tape and I checked them, they are twisted together in pairs, and one pair didn't seem to be connected. So I connected them but still have the same problem.
Recently the garage wall became saturated with water, its quite damp in that area and wet. Could this possibly be the problem? Has the moisture made the PIR faulty?
From what I gather it should only go off if something that gives off heat i.e. human, animal or whatever, moves around in its path. But its just constantly on..
Hope someone has some advice to offer!

Hi chaotic, same thing happened to us during the storms a couple of weeks ago. The security light died after staying on constantly. I did see water in the sensor so I guess that was what killed it. I have since heard that these lights aren't very reliable,so I will have to look into getting something else that is. I am not an electrician but it sounds as if you have had the same problem as a result of the terrible weather. I hope you get some other advice from someone more experienced in these matters good luck shrewdal0

Could be damp or corrosion on a connection but it could also be a duff sensor.
Given the relatively low cost of the part I would replace the detector.
Some typical examples here;
