Thanks for the post Nabowla, but have alreday tried - we are at the limit of our overdraft at the mo as it is just my wages going in - if it were both of our money going in it would be okay! Ah well! Still, trying to get hold of FIL to see if he will help. Thanks again!!Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0

somersetprincess :hello:
good luck in trying to sort it all out. Don't dispair - we all find ourselves having bad money months. The important thing is to learn from them and it sounds like you are being creative and thinking up ways to minimise the impact i.e. storecupboard challenge and slow cooker cooking
Keep smilingr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Hang on .... it's just your money going in, but your boyf has snaffled some of it to "save", leaving you paying interest & possibly charges???? If I understand correctly, you need to kick his !!!!!!! It's a nice romantic thought, but completely pointless. Also, it sounds like you're saving for your own ring ... is that right?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Hiya Debt free. Yes it is only my money going into my banmk acocunt, OH has his own account, attached to which he has his own 60 days savings account, which he has stupidly puit the spare cash from his current account in before i have been paid - it was a silly thing to do but he isnt used to having to wait for joint bills to be cleared before we save, he has never had joint finances before. I dont feel the need to kick his !!!!!! as it was just a mistake (I would rather have a small mistake made on a romantic basis, than a completely strict and regimented life and no romance), and I am not saving for my own ring, as his savbings are coming out of his wages.Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0

Do you have or could you open a joint bank account that you each paid a certain amount into each month and then all your bills come from there?
My OH and I put all our money into a joint account, we are both in the same job and get the same money (except sometimes he has more overtime so I help him spend that) and so we both quite happy not to have our "own" money... but we always talk before we buy stuff, unless it is basic small stuff like tesco's, farmers market or shoes
Anyway, best of luck. Keeping my fingers crossed!oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -

Hiya Kippsy! Thanks for your post, gave me a giggle!! Yes we definitly need to sort the joint bank account, just with moving house and everything we havent gotten around to filling in the forms to add him onto my bank account - that way we can both still have separjate acocunts for presants etc. I will definitly go to Abbey at lunchtime and pick up the forms to fill in tomorrow (We are off to see Beauty & the Beast in Brostol tonight- booked ages ago, might have to be McDonalds for pre-theatre dinner now he he!)
thanks again!Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0 -
Your boyfriends savings account might be a 60 day one but i'm sure you can access the money, you will get a interest penalty but surely thats better than paying bank charges OR having you bills not paid. Get the money transferred, now!0
