I've got a weird problem with my car in that the windscreen wipers intermittently turn themselves on and nothing I do can make them turn off, they just stop on their own accord again when they feel like it
But today was even freakier than ever because they started going before I'd even opened the car door or put the key in the ignition!!!
Anyone ever come across anything like this before? It's seriously starting to freak me out now lol

Sounds like you have an earth on the return from the wiper motor - you WILL have fun trying to find it !0

Very odd. What car/make/year is it?Genie

It will be an earthing problem somewhere I imagine like moonrakerz says, or water has got in somewhere.
Best to find someone who calls themselves an "auto electrician" to look at it. They should be able to find the fault quite quickly. General garages tend to be poor when it comes to electrical problems.0 -
Had a Pug 407 which did that.
It was down to it having an utterly flat battery and loosing its ecu stuff. Which fcuked the elecs up.
Mondeo wipers come on them selfs when you turn the ignition on if you have left them in auto mode. Which is really, really irritating....0 -
Yes, I'd go with the earth fault. These can cause all sorts of weird and wonderful fault conditions, and they can be a pig of a job to find. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Thanks everyone, seems you are all pointing to the same sort of cause.
Harvey bobbles - this is a Pug 307 (2003) wonder if it's a family trait
Not so sure about it being a flat battery though as that was only changed a couple of months ago“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Hmmmm apparently there's a problem with the computerised thingamybob that operates the wiper/washer motor
Anyway, it has to be sent to Peugeot to be properly scanned to find the fault, so I can see that costing me a few $$$$$$“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I had a similar problem on a Pug. it turned out to be the unquiet spirit of a former Ryton worker.0

I'm not sure whether or not to take that seriously or whether you're taking the mickey out of my paranormal comment
:rotfl: I've just googled Ryton to find out the relevance! Nice one! :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
