Dishwasher not filling and door problem

I'm sure these two issues must be related.
A week or so ago, my dishwasher door handle suddenly became very stiff and it's really hard to open the door now.
And yesterday, it got stuck on a cycle and now the dial won't move forward at all and it won't fill with water.
It's only a cheap Beko dishwasher that's about 3 years old, so I don't want to call someone out if it's not worth it.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Just had an Indesit D/W fixed. Similar problem - wouldn't work as a part in the door mechanism had broken. Cost £80 for parts & labour to fix itWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

I'm going to get a friend to have a look at it, but I have resigned myself to getting another one if necessary.0
