Cannot Install games --HELP

Have tried all sorts but cannot install LEGO Star Wars.
After the installshield wizard reaches the end of the taskbar and you think it's going to complete it comes back to the install window saying that the Installshield wizard was interrupted and didn't update any files. Doesn't tell me why it was interrupted though.
Running Windows XP pro with service pack 2.
These are the things I've tried.
Have made sure I'm the administrator, have tried removing temp files, removed ms installer, Disabled spyware and virus protection, downloaded installshield latest version.
Any other ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Do you still have your Microsoft Works disc? Or whatever your Microsoft programs such as Word, Office etc came on?
AS you noticed in the other thread, I had the same issue and tried my disc to see what happened, and it worked!
Can't re-install any of my 3 modems, hence i'm still using dialup, but I can now install other programs such as Word, games, anti virus etc0 -
Sounds like there is a problem with the install shield set-up.
the only work around (other than re-installing WinXP from scratch) is to install the games on a 2nd PC, but install the files over onto the uninstallable machine, thereby using the 2nd PC's installshield program.
I dont know of any other work around.
btw - I have had variable results with service pack 2"See you on the Other Side"0 -
Do you have enough disk space to complete the instalation, mine used 1.82gigs +temp instalation files?0

hello
It sounds like your autoexec.nt file is corrupted.
Insert the XP CD into the CD drive or DVD drive.
Click Start, and then click Run
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following command, pressing ENTER after the command:
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
exit
Start or install the program0 -
Cheers Bandit
Haven't tried this solution. Am at work at present (lunch time) so will give your theory a bash tonight.
Thanks once again for the suggestion. Will let you know if it works...I really hope so.Titch

Tried your suggestion Bandit.
Everything seemed to go Ok and the disc started reading...but then nothing. Nothing came up to install.
Getting to the point now where I think my only course of action will be to bite the bullet and reinstall windows XP.Titch

Only thing to try before re-installing is a repair, havn't tried it but might be worth trying.
Boot from your XP disk, don't choose repair but install, then choose repair in the second screen, might put something right.0
