I received an e-mail from supportat e-bay.com asking me to update my yearly details. I have not opened it, is this a scam?? Do you have to update your details every year, I only use it to buy? Thanks

If the email didn't address you by name, or if it asks you to click on a link it is a fake, in fact it almost certainly is a fake anyway. Send it to spoof@ebay.com.
Never ever use a link in an e mail to change or update anything on ebay, never send details by e mail. A true ebay e mail will never ask you to click on a link to log in.

Assuming you registered with the UK site, then anything you get will end in .co.uk. eBay doesn't have the - in it either. So what you received to me is certainly a spoof.
I've been registered with the UK site for over a year and have never received anything at all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I am registered with UK site.
But with 2 IDs 2 email add
One gets the usual notification and watching reminder mail etc
The second one gets all kinds of ebay advertising email
that does not get sent to my first ID.
I find this a bit strange.
No Spam filter on either.
There are lots of spoof emails ratteling about.
I wish someone would compile an up to date list so people could go and check.
The below site I find is not all that up to date.
http://www.millersmiles.co.uk/
I also keep getting Bank of America spoofs, you would think they would target .com email addresses Im .co.uk0 -
I'm not sure there is a need for a site showing the spoof e mails, they change on an hourly basis anyway. I've had three already today, one to a Hotmail address I never even use for ebay!
As long as you remember never to log in using a supplied link or to send confidential information in an e mail you will be fine.
As for the banks, I am continually getting the Citibank one, over and over despite never having had a bank account with them. What with the spoofs and the Nigerian scam asking me to assist with laundering money my inbox fills up very quickly.

Just to add a further note about email addresses....
it is VERY easy to alter the "sent from" email address so even if it says it's from ebay.co.uk and you have an inkling it's not genuine, then don't trust it0 -
ebay have no reason to update your account they have your details anyway, never ever ever give your details away again you dont need to! my hubby gets them all the time "if you dont respond within 72 hours your account will be cancelled" ITS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH, bin it!0

If in any doubt, forward the email to spoof@ebay.com (or spoof@ebay.co.uk)
Likewise, if you get one seemingly from Paypal, forward it to spoof@paypal.com
You will get a reply back very quickly advising you whether it is genuine or fake. How do I add a signature?0
