Credit Card Charges for "Cash Advances"

Used credit card online instead of debit card to play on gambling site and was charged between £2.50 and £25.00 per "advance". Is this lawful?? I though online purchases were not chargeable in this way??

Its classed as cash to gambling sites as that is essentially what it is.

There were a few posts this week regarding people not being able to get the cash back out of gambling sites to credit cards as well so you may run into this issue.

Never the less the gambling site should show you the charges for the payment method you are using so you can change.

It wil be in the cc terms and cons as well stipulating gambling transactions will be charged as cash advances.

An online purchase of a product would not attract the advance fee.

It is likely all to be up front in the terms and cons for the cc and hopefully the gambling site so yes you will be stuck for the charges.
