Bargain wine at Somerfield 06/07/2005

Nipped into Somerfields last night after work for 24 bottles at crazy prices. The staff were unaware of any sale (but they are an ex Kwik Save, I'm afraid they are less awake than my local Waitrose). The Rawsons Retreat was 2.99 on the shelf and also in an end display at 1.50 off for 4.49! The shop was dead, I would have thought there would have been loads of interest.Wins - 2004: Nothing, 2005: Zip, 2006: Nil, 2007: Zero, 2008: Naught, 2009: You get the picture0

make sure you look at the prices and don't just look out for half price signage as most of them are simply marked down but they don't stand out, got 36 bottles so should last a week or 2, some lovely wines, great deal from Somerfield.something missing0

Our local Somerfield have Blossom Hill at £1.99 a bottle
A dry white Kiwi cuvee at £1.49 a bottle (yes £1.49) It's not bad either.
Also a Reserve argentina red at £2.24 and Winter Hill and some others all reduced. The Blossom hill was flying off the shelf.
6 bottles or more and extra 5% discount
get down there!0 -
I went in yesterday with a 2.00 off voucher for a spend over 20.00, got 11 bottles at 1.99 came to 20.87 then with the 2.00 off and the further 5% off it came to 18.47 ish, got another 2.00 voucher so went in and got 4 loads of 11 bottles

Yes the staff didn't seem to know about the wine reductions. When the cashier put the white Kiwi through at £1.49 she said is that really £1.49 or is the price wrong!
I said it's the right price and she said I must go and get some of that.
ps They won't take money off vouchers in there only if you buy the named item. Shame!0 -
You mean you get a money off voucher if you spend over £20? I didn't get one in our store.
is it just some stores?0 -

Canard-Duchene
Never heard of it before it was 1/2 price and uses the same grapes as moet(checked back of bottle) so cant be half bad.
They did have another one for 9.99 but being a moneysaver I went for the cheaper one. lol0 -
Loads and loads of half price wine in the Bishops Cleeve store. When I went in this afternoon, the shop was empty of customers and the shelves were full of wine!0

Also lots of cheap wine in the Bath Road store. I don't think the half price stuff has been very well advertised.Hmmmmmmm0
