Have you checked various times?
I usually go to London with Chiltern trains, which has cheaper tickets, but you would have to get to Birmingham itself.
You could always get a coach.0 -

Well if you want to go direct to Birmingham International, you will have to go from Euston, and if you inflexible about the time of the train you get, it looks like you may have to just pay up. You could try going to the station though, as sometimes they can get you cheaper tickets that don't show up on the website.0

We went from Dorridge to Marylebone (Chiltern) - 5 people cost £55 at New Year ... no railcards nor discounts.
It would have been treble that amount going with Virgin to Euston from B'ham International.0 -

Whatever you decide, don't book through TheTrainline.com as they charge a credit card fee. Instead, book through the train operator's website. This space has been intentionally left blank0

If I pop those dates/times into www.nationalrail.co.uk it gives me a cheapest fare of £21.50 (with Network Railcard) - comprising two Advance single fares (£10.50 outward & £11.00 return).Stompa0 -
You could try Chiltern. You get the hourly Cross Country to Leamington or Banbury and change there - probably £18 for a super-off peak return, less with a railcard. Put a route Banbury into the farefinder to find these fares.
It's a walk on fare - not need to book.0
