A friend of mine is a keen hiker and metaldetector, he's after a SatNav.
I showed him my TomTom which I love and he was impressed but he asked if you can put Memorymap images over the top and I was totally stumped.
So I wondered if it is possible to do so on a TomTom or any other SatNav and how??!!
Many thanks
ps this has been editted since first posting as I shouldn't sleep-post!

I use MemoryMap with a Garmin Gecko 301 SatNav. It doesn't have maps on it but you can uplaod waypoints and routes to it from memoryMap and you then use it in conjunction with a paper map. I usually print a mpa out from memoryMap with the route on it. So the GPS points where you need to go and you use the map for checking.
You can get hiking GPS systems that have mapping built in but I don't like them as you can only see a tiny section of map at a time.
You can load MemoryMap onto various PDA's I believe and then use a GPS module with them. You can also use it on some smartphones I believe.
Some information hereIt's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
