Hi, I am treating my wife to this weekend in Chester, just after some ideas of where to go and not to go, think we will do the zoo as I find 2 4 1 tickets on Kelloggs cereals, any other worth while ideas?

be careful or you could spend to much time at Cheshire Oaks Outlet centre
My wife loves it though oddly we never seem to spend to much money.

Cheshire Oaks is good for shopping. Beautiful N Wales coast is only half hour away, try Rhos On Sea (very quaint), Llandudno etc. Even snowdonia is only an hour away, and a nice drive. Chester roman ruins, walls etc, are also good.0

Thank you to you both, funny wife mentioned she thought there was a shopping centre nearby!!!!
Will be getting there about 11 am on Saturday morning and leaving late afternoon Sunday so dont have loads of time, probably do the zoo on Saturday when we get there as cannot get booked into hotel till about 2.30pm. I live in Hull and apprently Chester is similar to York which is near to me.
It will just be nice to get away for a bit of quality time together and relax.0 -
Hi
Sorry for latching on to this too....I am taking hubby in Feb with our 1yr old.
Altho I am originally from Chester - have not been there for years & years and just wondered where we can take baby as well (pubs etc). Hubby likes "olde" pubs and is into his real ales.......
We are staying at Crowne Plaza - which has a pool etc - but wondering more about entertainment at night!
Many thanks0 -

Chester Zoo is fantastic. Unlike many zoos, it is not in the city, so consequently there is no shortage of space and the animals have very large enclosures. This means it is huge, so be warned it will take the full day to go round the place.
If you only have Sunday, I would spend it in the city itself. There is a lot to see in Chester. Walk round the city walls, take in the shops and the old architecture and visit the cathedral the roman amphitheatre, take a trip on the river.0 -
the central pubs can be quite tricky with children- if you re after real ale, but you should still have at least one at the boot inn on the rows, or telfords warehouse, harkers arms or the mill- all on the canal, the food is recommended at telfords and the mill.
we have never really had aproblem taking a mall child into other pubs or resturants with the exception of the albion which is alays in the real ale guide.
if you head to the outlet village i can recommend food and drink a mile away at the bunbury arms- my old local- which always has guest beers and is infinately better than the 'cardboard' places at the shopping centre.0
