Dear All,
Im wondering about the possibility of not using one of my return flight, and i am concerned whether it would work or not.
I am flying back from singapore to London, then onto manchester.
However, i want to stay in london and not use the connecting flight to manchester!!!
Is this possible, or will :
a) my bags be sent direct to manchester!!
b) when i check in at singapore, will i automatically be checked in for the london to manchester flight aswell?
sorry for all the questions,
if anyone can shed some light that would be great.
cheers

It's the final leg of your flight and if you tell them you're not using it there should not be a problem. However, I did something similar a few years ago and despite explaining the situation at check in, they still loaded luggage in my name through to my final destination and made the rest of my party (who were travelling on) get out and identify luggage, with all the hold ups this incurred.0

The airine most likely won't let you do this, unless you pay a change fee, which your ticket terms and conditions may not allow. Airlines argue that you should have originally bought the ticket to suit your needs. One possibility may be hand luggage only, because you and your hand luggage will leave at London.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Jh2004 you will be able to have your bags dropped off in London. If you have to find an excuse, just tell the check-in staff in Singapore that you are meeting somebody in London between flights and you need to hand over some documents that are in your case. They will mark the case to London and will only give you a boarding pass for the Singapore/London segment. This is not Soviet country and you are allowed to stop your journey where and when you want.
Sorry richardw but you are wrong in this instance. I fly about 8 internationals per month and this request is perfectly acceptable (of course jh2004 don't be obvious that you do not intend to continue on to Manchester). Just make sure the luggage tag read LHR or LGW.0 -
Thanks to all,
i suppose it depends on the airline, and how nice you are to check in staff!
oh well, better get a smiley face on!

Please ensure your bags are tagged correctly for your intended destination - the excuse of meeting someone to drop off contents is a good one. Your bags will not be allowed to travel to Manchester without you but they will be loaded on the assumption you intend to make the connecting flight. This will result in delays for everyone on that aircraft whilst your bags are located and off-loaded which is unecessary and unfair0
