AGH!! ELC charged me 3x...

Options
I placed an order with ELC earlier this evening for £120. The first two times with the same card came up with an error msg to do with the card.

I ordered it using another card but I've just checked my account for the first card and the available balance has just dropped by £240. It wasn't like that at 3pm this afternoon and I've not used my card for anything other than ELC.

To make matters worse I can't even get into my email to see if I've rec'd confirmations for 3 orders.

Because of how much has been taken out, it's only left me with £40 in my account until payday on the 31st Jan or whenever they refund it, whichever comes first:eek: . Don't want to end up getting bank charges.

Has anyone else had similar problems. I'm really angry!

I think If you get onto your bank they can stop the payment from going out of your account..
It may mean your order gets mixed up though? Unless you just cancel payments made on the first card. Then maybe the third transaction will go through ok.
    Worth a try.

    hello and good evening

whilst looking through the website i noticed that you have put this in the wrong forum and it would be better suited in the consumer vent forum

Being such a nice polite MSE i have contact the mods and kindly asked them to move this to a more appropriate forum

I hope i havent offended anyone by pointing this out;)
  • I had a similar thing with M&S but mine was x7.
I was told by my bank that if the money had been 'benchmarked' to go out they couldn't stop it ? Until the actual amount went out and then they would be able to query it. It took a week to be sorted out, numerous emails to M&S and lots of stress.
Contact your card people in the morning and tell them what has happened. I am sure they will be able to help

    This happens quite a lot...

All that has happened is that ELC has 'reserved' the £240 from your card. When ELC don't collect the payment, usually in 4 - 7 days your bank will release the money back into your account.

Unfortunatlely, there is nothing that ELC can do about this but your bank may be able to release the money at their end but I doubt they will even try!

4-7 days??? Agh!!! It's taken me up to my overdraft limit and I'm skint now. There's a fiver in my dd's piggy bank so I can get to work and get her to school tomorrow! Now it'll be a case of seeing how long we can live off a fiver for!

Phoned ELC and they can't do anything, same with bank. Not a happy bunny!

This happened with me and BT a couple of years ago, they took 3 payments on my card. It took a week before the money went 'unclaimed' and got put back in my account.

Is there no way you could arrange a temporary overdraft with the bank until this money goes back in?

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
