Benefits advice needed - 59 year old

My mum was receiving IB up until September of last year when it was stopped after failing a medical, we appealed and found out today that she has lost.

She was receiving IS at the lower rate whilst appealing which will now stop. Is the only option for her to apply for JSA? She suffers from COPD and really cannot work, even though the medical examiner seems to think she is fit enough! Previously applied for DLA and this was refused also.

She is 60 in August of this year.

Unfortunately she will have to apply for JSA. Crazy I know ... x

I'm not sure how long it is until you can make a fresh application for IB? Someone will be along shortly who will know x

An IB claim can be made at any time.

However, as this would be within 6 months of failing the PCA medical, unless thare is a different incapacity/worsening, she would normally be required to pass the PCA before the new IB claim would be accepted.

If she claimed after 6 months, the claim would be processed as normal.
