  • Presumably you've just installed a wireless router?

There are a handful of things to look at. Your router's instructions should give you more details on how to do each one. Usually you access these functions via an internet browser.

1: Encrypt your wireless signal using a WPA password.

2: Enable the router's onboard firewall - assuming it has one.

3: Change the "admin" password on your router to something other than the factory default.

4: Many people recommend disabling the "Broadcast SSID" function on the router.

5: It's not always practical, but it's usually possible to restrict which PC's can access your router by filtering their MAC addresses.

I'd do at least 1, 2 and 3 sooner than later...
  • If you can also reduce the signal strength on the router - this creates a smaller 'wireless cloud' around your house - this just reduce the range which you broadcast your wireless to.
