Energy saving lightbulbs

i´ve just ordered some LED GU10 bulbs for my spotlights, as well as changing plenty of normal bulbs to energy saving ones. Hopefully my electric bill will go down! One thing however, I went around the house checking the sizes, (length and width) to make sure I could get the right size replacements.0

Ikeas good for the energy saving bulbs. I seem to get all mine from there. Don't think I have any normal bulbs any moreTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

I saw the smaller ones with screw threads and bayonets, large and small. It was in some insert with the Saturday Sun paper. But it was priced at £20 for 4 with a BOGOF, giving you 8 bulbs for £20. I can't remember the wattage rating.

2 packs (of 4 bulbs) £19.99 plus £3.99 p&p - so £3 each if you only buy 8 bulbs. Several varieties listed.
But only worth it if you need obscure shapes/sizes - ordinary low energy bulbs are cheaper than £3 in most super-markets and hardware stores.0 -
You've been able to get LED GU10 spots for ages from ebay but over the last year or so they have been advertising that some provide a better white light than the older more yellow light. They are expensive to buy but they state that they last 8 years or more and as a pp said, very low energy usage. Worth buying in bulk from europe though due to high postage costs.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

I live in a newish build house and nothing here is standard! Even the loo seats are a different size to everyone elses :rotfl:
We have the round fixed light fitting in the ceiling and the shade pops off to change the bulb.I have tried every L/E bulb I can find and none fit
Does this mean the whole fitment will have to be changed?0 -
We have 'four pin' push-in energy saving bulbs in our hallway/landing and they are nigh on impossible to replace. One of mine was broken BEFORE we moved in here and I've been trying to get a replacement for it. I've pestered the builders and the landlord (Housing Trust). I've been told that they are available from electrical wholesalers - but try getting them to sell you just the one - they do trade only.
Managed to find four-pin push ins in Wilkies the other day and was nearly dancing with glee in the shop. Got it home to find it's the wrong shape/size base grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Not a happy bunny.
Finally got Mr.Ollie to remove one of the two bulbs in the landing fitments and transfer it to the fitment at the bottom of the stairs (where the broken bulb was) - they are so bright that one is actually enough on the landing. Wonder why I didn't think of that when we first moved it a year ago!0 -

I had exactly the same problem as you. New build and one of the bulbs was missing and impossible to find. I pestered one of the builders who was working on another block of flats and they gave me one.0 -
We have a few Philips energy saving bulbs, we got free from an energy company.
They are horrible, the light is so depressing.0 -
