Accomodation in Rome

Hello,
My partner and I plan to get married in Rome in April 2009. We would like to go over this year to check things out. I have been looking at flights and hotels which all seem to be quite expensive, have shared facilities or are miles outside. Have looked on usual site: last minute, opodo, laterooms, expedia, booking.com and all alot of money. Also tried tourist info site but they use booking.com so not any better.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to a site that gives good bargains or about somewhere nice, quite central and reasonably priced in Rome?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Emma.

Accomodation is Rome is generally expensive anyway compred to other European cities. You have to live with that!!
In order to try and get the best prices, use www.hotelscomparison.com to compare a whole range of prices. www.tripadvisor.co.uk will show you hotel reviews. Finally, if you feel brave, there is www.priceline.co.uk which allows you to name a price on hotels and lets them select a hotel which is prepared to accept your price (some real bargains to be had).
Hope that helps!!If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
I'd recommend doing a search on Venere - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
PM me if you want a 4% discount code.
I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere (also check out hotelscomparison.com), as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.
Hope that helps
PS - I'm not connected to this website in any way, and I don't gain anything from this post. I also found the discount code on another forum.0 -
Hi, I am going to Rome next month.
We booked our hotel through www.hotelconnect.co.uk. We have booked a hotel near the main train station and it is £102 for 3 nights including breakfast. Have checked the reviews on TripAdvisor and all seems fine.0 -
Also we have booked our flights with BMI Baby from Birmingham. Return flight less than £50 per person and goes to the main airport (Fumicino).0

If you are planning to stay 5 days or more why don't you consider renting a flat? There are many website for that and have a wide range of properties in fantastic locations.
We have used a few of them in the past and always had a great, cheap(er) and smooth holiday.

Hello friends, let me confess Rome happens to be the destination where we plan to head this year during Oct-Nov however we have already gathered a lot of relevant info from the websites including the one mentioned here. But while traveling would not it be worthwhile to carry a book or something alike that has all the information about the place? Can someone tell me if there are any such books that I can avail to make the journey even more pleasant?0

I recommend the Eyewitness guides - they have lots of useful tourist info, good maps and pictures. There is also a Top Ten guide which is smaller but tells you the top ten things in different categories for the place. My friend swears by the Lonely planet books..... good bookshops usually have a range of these guidebooks and then you can choose - I have often sent for them on amazon and bought used copies cheaper ( but check they are up to date).0
