Sky - This is a WARNING

I setup my BT line in september which is in contract for 12 months!
A couple of weeks later I decided I wanted sky and sky broadband, so I called up asked for all the channels and they said they would let me have it for free for 3 months and include the broadband in the price, they asked if I wanted sky talk and I said NO as I have a contract with BT for 12 months and have a good package with them, and that was that!
Mid Jan I saw that a direct debit had come out of my bank for £120, Natwest would not tell me over the phone who had taken it (as I don't have telephone banking) so I asked them to recall it.
The Monday after I went into my branch to find out who had tried to take that money and was told It was Sky. I called them up and they said that the bill included sky talk. Please bare in mind that I have already paid my BT phone bill for the month they were asking for.
They insisted that it cannot be possible for me to pay two lots of calls and that I have to pay for the Sky talk.
I refused to pay for it as I said I didn't want it, have already paid my BT bill, never recieved a letter saying that I have it and if they don't believe me they can listen to the phone call. I was told that they will investigate it and get back to me within 14 days. About 10 days later I get a call from Sky collections asking why I hadn't paid my bill and had to go through the whole spill again she said they will look into it again and inform me of whats happened.
Tuesday I recieve another bill which has included bloody sky talk, and am yet to get through to tell them for the third time I DONT WANT SKY TALK AND NEVER HAD.
I have been miss-sold and this is unexeptable

Hello, surely if you have an itemised calls bill from BT you then have the proof that you have been paying BT for your calls and landline and that Sky cannot also charge you for Sky Talk calls? I would stand your ground. Perhaps phone BT to confirm that all the calls are still going through them. We have Sky Talk and we got a letter through the post from BT basically acknowledging that we had switched to Sky Talk for our phone calls (we still pay BT for landline rental though). We were never asked if we wanted Sky Talk though, it seems to have happened automatically as there is no charge for the service (but the call costs are horrendous imo).
Good luck anyway, sounds like you have a pretty good case against Sky.0 -
If you didn't ask to go onto Sky Talk, it didn't "happen automatically" but, as appears to be the case with the OP, you were 'slammed'.We have Sky Talk and we got a letter through the post from BT basically acknowledging that we had switched to Sky Talk for our phone calls (we still pay BT for landline rental though). We were never asked if we wanted Sky Talk though, it seems to have happened automatically as there is no charge for the service (but the call costs are horrendous imo).
Sky's prices are horrendous for non-inclusive calls. See the 'HERE' link in my signature below for ways to cut those costs.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks I have complained to ofcom and I have also sent sky the link to this thread, and told them I am going to inform people via other routes of public press, about their practices. I am fuming:mad:0

hi peeps,
i also have had problems with sky. last month we got sent a letter stating that we could have movies and sport free for a month, so as any normal person would we took them up on the offer. the assistant on the phone said if we called back on the 8th february to cancel we wouldnt get charged for it, and if we didnt they would just keep the channels on and we would get charged. so i phoned on 8th feb to cancel and the lady said we wouldnt get charged. today i checked my account online and low and behold they took £44.57 out of my account  . so i phoned them this morning to find out what was going on and asked for a refund for the money that they shouldnt have taken out as it was to pay my bills. the lady said they were not allowed to do this and would take it off my next bill. so now i cant pay for my electric and gas (which is on a meter!) any advise is appreciated as i dont know what to do now surely they cant get away with this.:mad:0 -
