Wayhaaayyy, looks like I'm coming back to the motherland for a couple of weeks DFW style.
Coming to work in Peterhead for a couple of weeks, paid for by my work - should make a few bob out of it as well, and best of all, I'll be able to spend some quality time with my dad, who hasn't been well for a while. (Although I suspect I'll be decorating his house on my time off  )
Looking forward to it, and to hearing the mother tongue again. Bet everyone thinks I'm an "outsider" cos I've been living down here for 10 years :rotfl:Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid
 :footie:

Looks like nobody else has replied...so hope this helps:Tibbie's_mum wrote: »Just a quick question to all you locals. I am thinking of moving up to Aberdeenshire, in order to be near my in laws. Having 3 boys under the age of 5, my worry is, when they go to school will they have a problem being the children of English parents? Bullying or the like? I lived in Ireland, and found it difficult but is it the same in Scotland? No offense intended, but this is a huge move for us and I'd like to get some locals opinions. Sorry for hijacking your board and going off on a non-mse topic, but any comments/advice would be greatly received.
 TIA
we moved from south Wales (my partner is Welsh, I am English- but also lived in Co. Wicklow for a few years) to Forres and then near Elgin. My partner's daughter has just spent 2 years doing really well in a local state school and will be going to Edinburgh Uni this autumn.
She loves her Scottish school and has fitted in really well. She has not been bullied - tho' she felt intimidated in S.Wales (she's quite quiet and not socially well-skilled) - and now has more Scottish friends from 2years of being up here than she had in the whole of the previous 15 years in Wales. I used to teach - the system up here is superior in my view to that in England or Wales. But remember...every school is different. We visited several before deciding which would be best.
Hope this reply is not too late!!!0
