Dealings with DIY Home Solutions

Options
What a worrying time I am having with this company. I ordered a central heating boiler, online, from them 2 weeks ago, on behalf of a friend who has no internet access and he paid them nearly £900 by debit card. Only after 2 emails from me and 5 days later, did they confirm order saying they were awaiting delivery date from supplier. I have since sent them 3 more emails asking them for a delivery date but have not heard a thing back from them.
They do not have a phone line, and their website states they will reply to queries within 1 working day. Maybe they will come up with the goods, but the lack of communication has given me sleepless nights and worry, as I have bought many things online, without any problems and without fail, all other companies have confirmed the order immediately and delivered within a week. I wondered if anyone else has had any dealings with them?

  • Likewise! We ordered a bathroom sink from them last Thursday, received an automatic e-mail response from them saying they had received our order but have heard nothing since - despite sending several e-mails asking them for an update on the status of the order. We too are getting concerned because of the lack of communication and the fact we can't contact them by telephone. Like you we've ordered loads of goods on-line before and have never had this. Let's hope we get our orders soon
  • Hi Rachel. It's been over 3 weeks now and still no reply from them so have contacted Wiltshire Trading Standards, online, and reported them. We found their phone number on a business directory website, but no luck with that. Still waiting to hear from trading standards, but will keep you posted. I just hate dishonest people, and this group are not to be trusted. Let me know if you have any joy with them.

Surely it's your friend's problem, not yours, as his debit card was used to pay?

  • Thanks Jenkins. Will keep you posted with any developments. Good idea ref trading standards - will contact them too and see if I get any joy.
  • Yes, You're right, but this is his first experience of ordering online-it's put him off for life and I'd been singing the praises of online ordering to him and this happens!! He's contacted his bank but has to wait a full 30 days before they will look into it - Which will be next Friday. You don't live in Trowbridge do you? If anyone reading this is passing 81 Boundary Walk which is the business address, let me know if the shop is closed up or wotever!!
  • Hi Rachel. The latest news is that Trading Standards have contacted them (Somehow!! Must have gone in person I reckon), and DIY Homesolutions have agreed to refund my friends hard earned cash. Fingers crossed! Hope you have an easier time than we have had, and get your order with no problems
but I can advise you not to hang around with them as I don't know what their game is, but it's worrying. Just hope they send the refund.

Well, it looks like there's quite a few of us that have been suffering at the hands of DIY Home Solutions. After much persistence, I did get my goods but way, way, way after (weeks after the advertised delivery) which mucked up all my plumbing arrangements. When I could re-arrange the plumber, only when he unpacked all the goods did we realise they had shipped a wrong item (no chance now of a refund or replacement - not in their policy!). I can't believe they make the customer responsible for informing them of incorrect items delivered when their fulfilment house has quite clearly mucked up. It looks like their website is now defunkt - sure sign they're going down/have gone down the pan - I hope it's not with anyone's money.
I could kick myself because I had the personal telephone number of Steve I believe his name was (the guy presumably running this operation) but I can't find now (assuming I'd got everything I was haranguing him for). I'll keep searching and if I find it I'll post it. He deserves to get some calls for those of us he's ripped off/mucked around.
Why can't our ineffectual trading standards/office of fair trading do something permanent and useful with rogues like this?
    Good luck all.

My advice is contact Wiltshire Trading Standards - they seem to be used to complaints about this company and soon get things in order - refunds etc. It's crap that people pay for stuff, in advance, and are left with worry when this firm doesn't deliver what it promises.
