I live local to you and find that it’s so unpredictable. Sometimes I can get into London in an hour, other times I don’t clear the Luton road works in an hour.

Get B&B near to work, the saving in petrol will go a long way to covering the cost, it’ll be easier to find somewhere to live if you are local and your work performance will be much better if you are not doing 4, 5 or 6 hours a day of stressful driving.

And, it’s going to get worse once the A421/J13 work start
  • Cheesy mike's route across country is very good and i often use that myself, down past Dagnall, but like he says, that can be troublesome as well, especially
    at Berkamstead.

Once youve started the job, do you think you could negotiate slightly different hours eg. 7am till 3pm, would make the world of difference to that job.

Just a thought, that crawling traffic will be very hard on your car and pocket.

I wonder how long between completion of that and the J10-J13 widening starting.
  • Hi everyone sorry for the delay in reposting but thanks for your replies, they've been really helpful. I think I'm going to try to look for somewhere to stay monday-thurs nights after a week or so as I value my sleep!

I've tried gumtree but it doesn't really cater for that- any suggestions?

You might want to stick a card up on the notice board in your office.

Some way have or know of a Gran with a spare room who'd be glad of the extra dosh and the company
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

I thought of the OP this morning the M1 was stationary from J11 all the way to J8, it's days like that which require an understanding boss

It takes me 25 minutes to get from J11 of the M1 to J6A (M25) and I'm on a motorbike and not stationary. I'd allow 45 minutes alone for that stretch of motorway.

Google says 13 miles / 13 mins for this bit :D
