As far as I understand it, the 0% is only on balance transfers made within the specific anniversary month.

So, as in your example, if your balance was £10K and your anniversay was july you would still continue to pay interest on the £10K. However if you were to transfer the same £10K to another card in june (so your balance was nil as at 1st July) and then transferred the £10K back to your egg card on the 1st July you would get the £10K (that you were previously paying interest on) interest free for 5 months.

mountainofdebt is right, but you can only transfer 95% of the credit limit onto the Egg card i.e £9500 if your limit is £10000.

Be careful with egg. Their systems are changing and you can get caught out.

My partner did a BT up to her credit limit just after receiving new egg card. BT fee was then added to her account taking it £50 over the credit limit. Then on the first statement I see the £50 fee and later a £20 over limit charge! So they were charging me for going over the limit becasue they imposed a charge on me ...Effectively a £20 charge for receiving an extra £50 of credit...

Really annoying as we had phoned them to check all the charges that would be applied to the account. They explained that they were shifting to the 95% rule but that there were people caught like this in the transition.

Fair dues though they did back down on the charge. Initially said they couldn't refud the charge via secure message. Had to call them to get it sorted out. Seems to depend who you get through to ... persistence pays.;)
