end of year wftc figure

Options
hi all

Last year I gave the figure of £13,500.00 over the phone to the wftc for my husband's job ( he is self - employed ). We have worked out so far that it is only £7k since last August/September 2007. By April it is only going to be a little bit more, so what do they do as we also missed out on qualifying for the healthy star vouchers. We have 3 children by the way.

Any help would be great.

  • If you expect this year to be lower, work out an estimated income and let them know what it is for the current year.
They will re-calculate the award based on the estimate.
You wont be entitled to the Healthy Start vouchers if you receive WTC which you qualify for.

They will recalculate your award and your payments might go up. Remember to estimate your income from April 07 to April 08 though - you said £7k since Aug/Sept, but what about April to Aug?

You can let them know now and they will adjust your payments OR you can leave it until April (if you can manage until then, obviously).

If you leave it until April and give them your final income for 07/08 then they will give you what they owe you in a lump sum, once they have finalised your award for this year.

Basically though, you will get the money even if you do nothing right now.

thanks very much. Think I will leave it until April. It is the 1st of April or sometime in April you give your figures over??

Personally, I'd ring them now if you're looking at a £3k or more shortfall as they deduct at a rate of 75p in the £1 so it could make a huge difference to what you get.
