Who can certify my passport?

Im getting an Irish passport, alongside my UK one but there appear to be strict regulations on who can certify the photos. My step-dad is a retired surgeon, can he do it?? The form says a medical doctor and the Post Office have been less than helpful.

if you live in the republic you take the form to the garda station along with your old passport and 2 proofs of address ie bill and bank statement
if your in the uk try your local police station with your uk passport and prof of address a police stamp and signature of the officer plus a contact number for the station should suffice,
to be sure give the embassy in London a ring 1st
don't forget to send your documents in registered postWAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING

Don't think your step-dad can do it. It has to be someone unrelated.PandaPants wrote: »Im getting an Irish passport, alongside my UK one but there appear to be strict regulations on who can certify the photos. If your Doctor charges £10, then the best thing to do is pay up and the problem is solved. My Doctor charges £20.PandaPants wrote: »Will the police charge me though? Sorry, i wasnt clear there. They arent actually married yet, so technically he is not related to me!
Im thinking i might chance it, if they send it back they send it back. Then ill pay £10 to my doctor. Who already earns £100k a year!! :rolleyes:Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Do you know any teachers? DH just sent his Irish passport off for renewal on Sunday and I'm sure teachers were one of the categories listed. If not, I'd be tempted to do as you mentioned.0
